What Is The Best VPN?
Finding a good VPN provider can be a little tricky considering the fast-growing market. You may also be worried about whether a provider really is protecting and encrypting your data: or is simply storing them. Generally speaking, finding the “best” means looking at the more establish all-rounders out there on the market.
However, when choosing a virtual private network there are three (main) important things to consider:
- How many servers and countries are available worldwide? Quite frankly, there’s no point in using a service that struggles to find a server most of the time.
- How many devices can you use it on? Maybe you have several laptops and devices that you switch between. In most cases, the best deals will let you use up to six different devices.
- You still need to keep an eye on data encryption. Make sure it’s up to the highest security standards – so, choose a server network that is stable and reliable.
How Do VPNs Actually Work?
When choosing a VPN provider, you have to download the software of that particular provider. Install it onto whatever device you’re using: mobile, gaming console, phone, tablet etc. Then, simply activate the software. When this happens, you don’t establish a direction Internet connection. Instead, the connection occurs using the software you downloaded, connecting it to your VPN server. Everyone using the network connects with a login server via VPN protocol. An encrypted tunnel is then established with every user getting a new, internal IP address.
It’s thanks to this encryption that computers outside the network are unable to access any internal communication.
The Biggest Advantages Of Virtual Private Networks
Digital nomads and remote workers aren’t the only ones who will benefit from a VPN. Anyone who uses the Internet can available of a whole host of benefits. Of course, one of the biggest advantages is the ability to surf anonymously. That’s not all, however: you can also access content that may be restricted in your current geographical location.
For digital nomads in particular… it certainly sounds like a dream!
You Get Great Security
If you do anything online, you leave a trace. Often quite a lot of traces. These are available to different organizations to use and abuse. Companies, governments and private individuals (such as hackers) can very easily get their mitts on your personal information. As we all know, large companies will frequently misuse private data (read: online ads).
Hackers can also easily access banking or credit card information…
VPNs are a greater safeguard against this – basically, everything you do is rendered untraceable for third parties.
Want To Access Blocked Content?
Like to stream movies and episodes online, instead of watching them on TV? You’re not alone. However, when a new series is released it’s normally only available in the country of origin. Fans abroad have to wait – unless they have a VPN which grants them virtual access to an IP address in said country.
In addition, you can circumvent firewalls with VPN software. Certain countries like China and Russia may heavily censor online content. A good VPN will help you get around these firewalls.
